Owning a lot of industrial equipment may be how you keep your company running smoothly, but when something breaks down, you suddenly realize just how much you depend on all of your equipment to keep it afloat. To help lower the amount of time that your equipment isn't up and running, there are a few things you can do now to prepare for when your equipment does stop working.

Buy Metric Hardware and Fasteners

The tricky thing about a lot of specialized industrial equipment is that it uses metric components. Although metric components work really well, they aren't as easy to find in the US since we don't run off of the metric system. Because a lot of metric hardware and fasteners will need to be custom ordered, try to stock up on a bunch of them so that when your equipment does breakdown, you have everything that you need without having to wait to special order it. If you aren't sure what kinds of metric hardware and fasteners to load up on, reach out to your mechanic and ask them what they most commonly use and then you can build your list off of that.

Find Someone Who Works Quickly

Finding a mechanic that can work on your specific type of equipment may be difficult and finding someone who does it quickly may be even more complicated to do. Try finding some mechanics that have a quick turnaround time so that when you find yourself in a bind you aren't waiting around for weeks and weeks. If you have to, you may need to pay a rush charge to have things done as quickly as possible, but it will be worth it so that you don't miss out on potential business.

As a preventative measure, there are few tins you can do to ensure that your equipment doesn't break down very often including having it tuned up on a regular basis and keeping it out of the rain and snow. Basic care tips will ensure that you don't have to have it fixed very often which can save you a lot of time, money, and hassle later on.

Even when you do take good care of your industrial equipment, it can breakdown because of the incessant wear and tear that you place on it at every job. To help cut down on the time that it takes for your equipment to be fixed, keep these easy tips in mind.

If you need metric fasteners, consider a supplier like Jackson Bolt & Screw, Inc.
